Oh that is neat! LWB, 4x4, stepside, manual shift, bench seat, it has a lot going for it. Needs a spare tire cutout though......yes, $16K is a wee bit high.

Re: Nice 68 on CL, 4x4 3/4 ton 8300 miles

Found it on ebay, bid only went to 10,100 so it didn't meet the reserve.
Pictures look like it is actually 8300 mile truck. rust free, 95% orig. paint, etc.
I think it would be worth mid-teens all day, every day.

Oh wow, so maybe offer the reverse price and get it?

I'd love to have it myself, it's just "my kind" of truck, but alas, no garage space for it, and I still need to fix up my truck. However, if anything ever happens to my truck, one like this is exactly what I want to replace it with.

It's $16k OR BEST OFFER. So, who knows? Might be puffed up a bit for hagglers (might? Who wouldn't?). I'd think about 10% off of that would be very possible...$14.5k sound any better? The thing is, if it was actually hard to sell, which it won't be, that number could get to be $12k I'd think. Stuff like this is prime...far more than one with 2x that dumped into it. This is all natural with no preservatives. I just don't have the money, so it's priced too high

Steering wheel has a lot of wear, with hints of turquoise. Brake, clutch pedals and ebrake handle look to be sprayed too. Don't get me wrong, this truck is exactly what I like and look for, but would have to crawl under and around like a blood hound before handing out $16 thou

That is a nice truck, but 8300 original miles? There sure are a lot of low mileage, original mile vehicles popping up lately

8,300 miles my ass. More like 108,300. He's not fooling me. If that's the case then my truck only has 33,000 original miles.

I think I agree with this. It doesn't look much cleaner than my 69 did when I bought it with about 130k miles. It was probably just garaged it's entire life and then detailed recently. The underhood picture definitely doesn't look like 8,300 miles.

Looks a lot like this gem in southern Connecticut that has 4900 miles on it

Re: Nice 68 on CL, 4x4 3/4 ton 8300 miles

You may be right on this mileage deal.....I mean....my truck has 75K miles and has more paint on the valve cover than this truck does. (And my dad bought it new so I know).

We say in the gun collecting hobby "buy the gun not the story" so I'd look this baby over, make sure it ran and everything worked, and go from there.

Re: Nice 68 on CL, 4x4 3/4 ton 8300 miles

I believe the miles are very possible. It's an ex-brush fire truck. It sat in a heated garage and received regular maintenance. It only went out when there was a brush fire/off road situation, not every house fire or accident. What you are seeing is nearly 48 years of age. The truck has been warm then cooled down many times for the amount of miles shown. The truck has probably seen little to no hiway driving. When it went out it wasn't babied, it was run hard. It would be a very fine truck to purchase. I think the price is a bit high, but I think they all are now that so many want them. Prices have risen disproportionately thanks to the multitude of newer interest in these and the fact that younger people consider it cheap compared to today's new prices.

I'd pay close to that for it. If I owned a truck that nice I'd want somebody to mean it (monetarily) when they bought it from me.

67/68 base seat covers aren't reproduced people. Think that seat has 108k+?? (Yes the material can be had from SMS, but this is not the case)

Re: Nice 68 on CL, 4x4 3/4 ton 8300 miles

The 67/68 steering wheels were molded in black or turquoise and painted the other colors, or not. It does seem like a lot of paint loss for such low miles. But with no P/S and being a brush truck that wheel was grabbed on and worked hard. Maybe acids on hands from ash/soot/grit/etc did some extra eating on the paint. It's not like they washed their hands before driving back to the fire house. The peddles were probably touched up by the flipper. I agree, gotta look 'em over to know what's what.

I thought they were all molded in black, my '67 has turquoise interior with black showing through the turquoise wheel.

Re: Nice 68 on CL, 4x4 3/4 ton 8300 miles

I don't know exactly what went on, but I've had wheels that were molded in turquoise and painted. One was a 50th Anniversary wheel. I have a solid turquoise wheel now. My guess is it was about availability. They came molded in the two colors and the others got painted on which ever, or only certain colors on turquoise? I don't know. Maybe they made mostly black and would run short and paint one turquoise. Yeah, that's it I'm sure

Here's the original ebay listing with better pictures, spid, and detailed description.

Thinking about going for a look. it's about a 90 minute drive.

Just so nice. I love that thing. I see the frame was trussed to haul the tank.
