Wont Start After Gas Refill

Hello!

I have a 71' c10 short bed. mostly original, just purchased a month ago.

The two times ive filled up on gas the truck wont start after. It has no issues at anytime with any electrical otherwise. It starts like a champ every other time, I drive it almost daily. After about 10 min in starts right up!

There are no clicks, no turns, nothing. Its like the battery was disconnected. Then all of the sudden BOOM! We're in business.

Any ideas?

Got a few ideas but i highly doubt it has anything to do with refilling the tank probably just a coincedense

Sounds like a classic case of starter solenoid heat soak.

My truck had the same issue. I installed this with some added heat tape on the outside, was never a problem again.

Re: Wont Start After Gas Refill

I have the same problem with my 65 Impala SS. One of my buddies sent me over this diagram and told me to change out this wires in RED (This may be totally wrong but just wanted to pass the info I got). I have yet to do it since I have my 65 in Vegas right now getting painted. I am also going to look up the Starter Solenoid Heat Shield that 67ChevyRedneck posted as well. Anyways hopes this helps. I'm going to try both. Sucks going for a cruise and when it's time to go your car is totally dead and boom 5 mins later it starts like nothing was wrong.
