1970 C30 swap to power steering

Maybe file this under stupid questions... I have a C30 with manual steering and she's a beast to turn. Is it as simple as adding a power steering pump and plumbing it to have power steering. Were the steering gear boxes different between no PS and PS? If they are different what would be a suitable donor. Thank you

Yes, you'll need a new gear box. The unit for power steering has hydraulic fittings.

(takes a tiny bit of frame modification on many trucks too, but nothing you can't manage with a ball peen hammer.)

Just changed my 69 c10 over to PS. You need a different gear box and pitman arm, probably a rag joint. If your vehicle has a V8 it shouldn't be to hard to find the right PS pump and brackets. You also need hoses from pump to gear box. You need a belt, and the biggest thing is hopefully you have at least an extra grove around your harmonic balancer an possibly your water pump to run the belt. It's not a bad job, but des require a few pieces. If your truck has the 6 cyc parts may be a little harder to find.
