Rear bumper fit

I need a rear bumper for my 69' Suburban. I found the kind I want on a local craigslist but it is for a 67-72 C10 truck. Will this fit the Suburban as well? It looks like I might need to cut the corners of the upper flange back a few inches to set in under the doors but I'm not sure about the mounting.

Re: Rear bumper fit

I went ahead and picked it up. What the heck, $35 for a factory original in great shape. It was even on the spid!

Re: Rear bumper fit

The two biggest issues you may run into is the added filler on the top which may be too tall to fit under the fill pan below the doors and the bumper brackets being too short, if you can work around them, you should be able to bolt it up. The one I have on my burb currently looks to have been modified to fit a truck at one point, but still hangs where it needs to be.

Re: Rear bumper fit

I don't remember seeing a burb with a step bumper. I like the idea, especially for a 4x4.

Re: Rear bumper fit

At some point I will try and get one for my truck. I climb up into my dad's truck bed all the time, I see the valve of a step bumper!

Re: Rear bumper fit

Well I got it all installed! Looks pretty good. I still need to install the trailer plugs which are going in the 2 holes on either side of the plate. One will be a 7 way and the other will be a 4 way. That way I can connect to most any trailer and be wired for it. I intend to fix the paint where the bumper goes around the fender so that the white ends down further at the body line. The license plate light will be an led that mounts to the bottom (or top) of the plate. Its on order. The receiver hitch is a Curt 10K.

Re: Rear bumper fit

Oh that does look pretty good. What's that hole for over the step part on the driver's side?

Re: Rear bumper fit

Originally, the bumper had 2 plate lights in it and the upper hole was where the trailer plug was. See the very first pic in the thread.

Re: Rear bumper fit

I wondered if that's what it was. You could put your back up camera there.

Re: Rear bumper fit

I'm thinking I might put another hole just like it on the right side and put a pair of LED backup lights in there.

Thank you, it's been on my mind for some time. If you do put in a camera, please take some good pics and post those. I want both a backup cam and a front cam. Mine will have to go into the grill since I'm not a fan of anything but the factory mirror stuck to my windshield.
