Car ramps
Can someone recommend a good set of ramps? Does Northern Tool have good ramps or are they junk? What about someplace like a NAPA store?
Thanks |

Re: Car ramps
I bought the heavy-duty Rhino ramps at O'Reilly and I love them. They nest together for storage and they work really well. They seem to be very solidly constructed.

Re: Car ramps
Go for plastic ones. The nesting ones are great.

Re: Car ramps
I've had the composite plastic ones for years and they are light and hold a ton of weight with no problems.
Don't have to worry about scratching them or worry about them rusting away. Kim |

Re: Car ramps
Steer clear of the stamped metal ones..my dad had a set and they folded up on him..luckily he wasn't under the truck..never used plastic..dad got a set of heavy fabbed metal ramps..they work good for him..

Re: Car ramps
The stamped steel ones fail. Once the edge bends, the strength is gone. Dad's steel ramps looked fine until I rolled the E-350 up on it. Folded like a cheap suit. Same van, AutoShack (it was then) plastic ramps and no more problems. I still use those ramps 20+ years later.

Re: Car ramps
I will try and get pictures. My dad built a set of wooden ramps I love to use. They are very wide and being wood, will not fail.
The only drawback is heavy weight. |
