Heater Box Question
Quick heater box question...
Should this door/flapper have some sort of a gasket on it? (Mine does not) And, yes that is a rust hole in just above the door in this picture. Grrrrr.... LOL

Lockdoc is correct. Further, companies carry rebuild kits for the heater boxes. I rebuilt mine, and it did make a noticeable difference in the amount of directed air.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Guess I'll have to order a seal kit. I didn't realize they come with a heater door seal as well.
Another question... Does anybody make reproduction "tin parts" for these heater boxes? As you can see, there is a hole below the blend door on the one piece, and the other piece has quite a bit of rust where the motor seal glues on.

Gaskets:
1. A rectangular rubber foam gasket fits inside the RH (TS) box. It seats between both boxes. 2. A rubber foam gasket fits between the firewall and the rear of both boxes. This fastens to the RH box. With the RH (TS) box mounted, the gasket inserts into the LH (TS) box. 3. A roughly round rubber foam gasket fits between the front of the RH (TS) box and the blower motor. 4. A foam rubber gasket fits along the perimeter between both sides of the box. This is round and narrow. Cut to fit. 5. A rubber ring (i.e., gasket) inserts into the back of the RH (TS) box for the hole for the blower. Correct positioning is the widest portion of the ring faces the firewall. Note: With possible exception of #4, the gaskets are cemented.

Do you guys recommend attaching the entire evap. box to the fire wall in one piece? I took the LH truck side off first, then removed the RH side with the evap. core. Seems with that rear gasket it might be best to install the entire unit.
