Connect/adjust Quadrejet electric choke - need info/advice
Just changed to the later model electric choke version of the Quadrajet (Edel 1904) - never had an electric choke - and need some overview info.
1. I assume that the "electric" aspect serves to close the choke plate and that a heat source from within causes the adjustable spring to open the plate as the engine warms up. (If the choke operation - closing and opening - is all electric, please straighten me out here). 2. Intend to provide 12v to the choke mechanism from coil connection (or similar) but see only one connector on the choke and assume that to be the positive. What need one do for a ground? 3. No doubt the choke spring/opening aspect will need to be adjusted to this engine - and am assuming that should be done with engine at op temp, but could be wrong. What is best procedure? if you want to save typing and cite a good post/source, that will be fine.

Re: Connect/adjust Quadrejet electric choke - need info/advice
The electric choke is heated by the 12v supply, opening the spring on the choke. It's grounded through the body of the carb - you shouldn't need an additional ground. To adjust, just make sure it's closed when cold and open once the engine warms up. If it's never been rebuilt the choke probably has rivets and you won't be able to adjust it.

Thanks for dispelling some poor assumptions and the concise info. Should be able to take it from here.

Re: Connect/adjust Quadrejet electric choke - need info/advice
Might sound odd, but if possible I like to power mine through a relay that is only on when the oil pressure sender (if you have an electric one) shows pressure. That way if you turn the key on and the engine isn't actually running it doesn't heat the choke.
A small touch, but one I've found handy.
