Mystery Firewall Grommet

Gonna start trying to fix some things on my rig. Can anyone tell me what this mystery hole is? Obviously missing the grommet and I am hoping to order one so I can get rid of the paper towel that was stuffed in it.

PS- all my pics keep loading sideways even tho they are right side up as I upload them.....any reason?

TIA

Randy

Re: Mystery Firewall Grommet

The forum software doesn't recognize photos taken sideways yet, it's a bug in vBulletin. For now you can manually rotate them in a paint program before posting, that's what I have to do.

But to your question, it looks like two holes overlapped, which isn't original. You could maybe make a little plate that went over it with a single center hole and grommet. Others might have a better idea!

Yup. That is your clutch rod hole, but yours has been cut. I agree with the cover solution. Just fab it to cover the hole and paint it to may have the firewall. Use a piece of foam to sandwich in between ti to seal out the weather

Re: Mystery Firewall Grommet

I don't think that is the clutch rod hole. It looks like the speedo cable hole. But defiantly not the original hole size. Is the rubber grommet still on the cable? If it is you could just put the grommet back in the hole (if it still fits). A plate or weld a section in would be the correct way to fix.
