Can someone help me with anengine number

On the heads is the casting number3814480 I think it said somewhere that those were used on the 327 [and 283] from 60 -67. That makes sense cause I have the numbers A-4-7 I think that would mean Jan 4th 1967 is when they were cast. I was told the motor was a 327 the number on the front of the block is VOI 23 YH I have not scraped the grease away from the back but i am doing that this afternoon along with trying to get my left hand floor and rocker welded up. Any help is great. Thanks Jim

Re: Can someone help me with anengine number

Jim, Your date code, decode is correct. Jan 4, 1967
YH is your application code and in 1967 it decodes as
327ci, 220hp, automatic trans, 4bbl carb
0I 23 is 01 23 is Jan 23rd assembly date
V is for Flint

Re: Can someone help me with anengine number

The block number lends more to the story I was told that it was a 327 in the truck . But I was also to it was a replacement motor [crate motor as they are called now] but I guess we can all call BS on that. The block number is 3892657 I saw a number on some page that said it was a 350 Camaro motor from 67, but I am more inclined to say it is a 327. It might be worth more to someone needing a early 67 motor to put back in a Camaro. I dont care what motor I end up with in this truck.
But with that being said I have a 400 motor that has the double hump heads on it for some reason maybe they should go on it. Thanks

Re: Can someone help me with anengine number

Jim, Is the date code for the heads or the block. I assumed for the block but then I reread your post and I think you meant the date code was for the heads.
I looked up the head casting number 3814480 and it shows use from 1960 to 1967 on 283ci or 327ci motors. The Heads have 70cc chambers, 1.72/1.5 valves.
Your YH application code was used in 1966, 67 and 68. All Truck motors, all 327's.
The 1967 350 Camaro motor used application codes MJ, MV, MS, and MT.
3892657 Block casting number is for 1967 302ci, 327ci or 350ci.

Re: Can someone help me with anengine number

The first numbers were the heads. i didn't have the block number[3892657] at the time of my first post. The motor is in a 70 short and I was told apparently incorrectly that is was a replacement motor. It appears to be a 67 car motor 220 hp 327. Thanks for your help

Re: Can someone help me with anengine number

With a application code of YH, it's a Truck motor. Casting number 3892657 was used in both cars and trucks.
