7802644 is the P/S box that I used on my 65 C20.
It has the standerd threads on it, not the metric version that came later. |

What is your Gear Box Case's Julian Date Code? mine showed (1 236) Aug. 24,1971 or 1981, and what is your top Aluminum Inspection Covers Julian Date Code? mine showed ( 254 8 ) Sept. 10 or 11 1968, 1978, or 1988 depending on the Leap year or not.

Not sure of my date codes.
I just ordered a re-manufactured box for a '70 chev. Cardone 27-7501. Casting # 7802644. Fits and works properly. Cal. |

Re: Casting #'s on Pow. Strg. Gear Box
Another question that I have, is both the pow. strg. box case casting numbers the same as whats on the top alum. inspection cover casting numbers providing they were both married together from when the pow. strg. box was being put together at an assembly plant? Just curious as both mine are different, or by default are they different or should they be?

The casting # on the box is for the box. The # on the alum. cover would be the part # for the cover. If they both had the same # then they would be the same part. Different parts different #'s. If you are unsure about the condition of the box that you are looking at I would just get a reconditioned one from the parts store. I found a used one cheap and used it for my core charge for the new one. |

This posting is for 65 C20 or who ever. Here is some pictures of what I have and will be using for the Driver Side top mount Alternator with Brackets and the Power Strg Pump & Brackets that will be right under the Alternator. Also all the pulleys I have to be used.

Re: Casting #'s on Pow. Strg. Gear Box
They all look good but untill you do a mock-up and see if all the pulleys line up you won't know for sure.
You have a 305 and I had a 283. As far as I know if you use the P/S box with casting #7802644 you will need a Moog pitman arm #K6361, That is what I used. As for the P/S pressure hose I used Edelmann #70917. Like I said earlier my truck is a '65 with a 283. Is there anyone else on here with a 305 in a '67 - '72 truck that would be able to verify what worked for them ? Cal. |
