Question Power Brake Boosters Question

Why do some of the '67-'72 power brake master cylinders tilt up and some tilt down? mine on my '72 angles down and I have seen others that angle down, but I have seen several that angle up also. Another question what kind of master cylinder should be on a '72 with power brakes? Should it be the double bail oval looking one, or the single bail rectangle one? Everytime I have gotten one they give me the rectangle looking one.

Good question...

Pretty sure mine's all OEM (well, I did replace the master cylinder, but with the same type). It angles down because that's the way the firewall-to-vacuum booster bracket is made. And the MC is the double-bail oval type.

72 used two different types. 1 bail and 2 bail

1) Delco Moraine
2) Bendix

If the parts guy doesn't ask which one you have when buying a master cylinder, you've got a 50/50 chance.

I installed a factory setup on mine and it points down and has 1 bail. I thought mine was wrong, until I saw some others with the same setup.
