Have parted out several trucks over the years and there appears to be some inconsistancy regarding the rear frame crossmemebers. Most of the 2wd have a crossmember just behind the rear axel that is actually mounted about an inch off square in that one side is slightly forward then the other. I've seen this on both coil and leaf trucks in both 1/2ton and 3/4ton. Yet On others it is not there at all. It does not seem to be part of the 4x4 trucks. anyone have any answers as to what the deal is with this cattywhampass crossmember?

I think it is there to support the panhard bar on a coil spring truck.

Are you looking at the spare tire holder that goes behind the axle from side to side.

What application is that fuel cell from? Do you have any info on it, or a part number from where you bought it? How are you filling it?

It's a Summit 16-gallon fuel cell. I fill it through a door in the bed floor. As you can see in the picture, I had to shave off some of that cross member (on the side that angles back). Here is a link....

How did you mount it? Did you also purchase the mounting kit that fits that cell, or did you fabricate something? That looks like what I wanted to get. Only thing I don't like is the filler location. I really wanted to go with the filler behind the marker light for coolness.

But after seeing this, I may have to go this route. If you have any more detailed pics of this I would love to see them.

Also, I noticed there are 2 outlets at the bottome of the tank. Is one of these a return line? Or is it for a dual pump application?

I bought the mounting kit but I ended up not using the top straps and modified the bottom ones! You could easily make your own straps. So basically I just have two straps below the tank and it is just resting on them. My bed floor is raised 1.5" so I was also able to raise the tank. It's not quite as high as shown in that picture, but the bottom of the tank is the same height as the bottom of the bumper so it's out of site. You could possibly make up a filler tube ..... just depends on how low you'd want the tank to hang. I was more concerned with keeping the tank out of site rather that how I was going to access the filler. I won't be hauling anything in the truck (besides a cooler and lawn chairs

) so the bed floor door is fine with me. If you mount the tank so that the top of it is above the top of the frame, you’ll obviously have to notch one of the bed cross supports. There is one that is located right over the filler (on this tank). I think the second outlet would be used as a return line for fuel injection.
