1950 chevy wheel options
Hi a bit about my truck first. I'm building a 1950 chevy truck it has all brand new air ride suspension so it will be very low. Ls3 500 Hp and t56 6 speed tranny. I'm not sure what color it will be yet but I know I want all the chrome (grille, wheels, etc.)
So what kind of wheels do you think would look good on this show quality truck. All chrome wheels of course but I don't want to spend an insane amount of money but I will spend quite a bit on the wheels. Just wondering what kind of wheels y'all think look cool on these show trucks. Btw I'm sure I'll have to run it anyway so I'm open to wide 10 tires in the back and 8 on the front. I really like the American racing VN701 nova wheels in all chrome. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks! |

Re: 1950 chevy wheel options
Your truck, your money. pick what you like that fits right and we may or may not like it but that's that.
Main thing is don't buy some wheel that doesn't blend in as part of the whole package of the truck because that is what the tire store has in the size you want for the price you can pay. You want eyes to see the whole truck and then notice the wheels you don't want them to see wheels and then go, oh they are on a truck.

Re: 1950 chevy wheel options
First, good start by considering a different trans (t56) than the usual slushbox...

Re: 1950 chevy wheel options
Thanks to all that responded. I will start considering different things I like the look of the American racing wheels vn701 nova. I know American racing is a good company. Have y'all dealt with them or these wheels how do you like them. Also any of y'all that have big wheels under your ride would you go with 18" or 20" do they require any mods other than tubs?

1. What do you plan for an over all wheel/tire diameter? That may leave you with a very thin tire on a 20" wheel. 2. How much do you plan to drive it? A really thin side wall is going to provide a rougher ride. If this is a show truck that may not matter. I have 20" wheels on my truck and went with a little taller tire to make it ride better. It still has a pretty rough ride and I have QA1 coil overs. This also makes it not sit as low. |
