Trans brace riveted to frame
I'm changing out my 6 cyl 3 speed for 383 turbo 400 combo and I am wondering if the factory brace for the 3 speed trans has to come out and if so anybody have any ideas as to how to the remove the rivets that hold the brace to the frame
Thanks Keith Posted via Mobile Device |

Yup, has to come out. I cut the rivits off then drilled and punched them thru...

Re: Trans brace riveted to frame
I take a hammer and punch and make a pilot hole with a 1/4" bit then a 7/16". The head pops right off. Then punch the rest out It only takes a few minutes a rivet and no sparks. It's clean and you can put it back in again someday.
You might have trouble with that crossmember, if I remember right here is rivets on top of the frame too? This is a couple of shots where I took the cab mounts off a donor frame
