67/68 Dog Dish Caps on a 4WD
I was reviewing an old thread from 2006 that contained pictures of stock 4WD's and i was informed that the 67/68 dog dish hubcaps were not available for 4WD vehicles.
I significantly prefer this style over the 69-72 style, and so I was curious if there was a way we could get these to fit on the 4WD's. Would having Auto locking hubs work, or cutting out the middle? |

Re: 67/68 Dog Dish Caps on a 4WD
not really a way to make em look right imo. The bow tie is too wide for a cutout to even start to look ok I think. Somehow, for me anyway, knowing the 67/68 Ks didn't come with caps make them seem all the more business-like, and I like that. On my 76, it's a cap-delete truck, an oddball option for a 76, but I kinda like that too. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I think your truck would look great without em, it's a good look. If you want caps though (and I too like the 67/68 C-caps), you might need to settle for a different year 4x4 cap. Do the 67/68 caps even fit over the rear axle hub (not sure if you have a K10 or 20). I don't know if the 67/68 caps are as deep as the 69-72's - probably but it'd be one more thing I'd confirm before taking the saw to my soon-to-be front caps. Just a thought. I'd love to see some if someone has done this already - I never cease to be amazed at the craftsmanship folks have on here.

Re: 67/68 Dog Dish Caps on a 4WD
Board member Mr Chevorlet (yes that's how he spells it) built a beautiful '67 K10 (here) with stock 16" wheels and 67 hubcaps. He used the method described above by cutting out a hole in the center of the caps for the front. If you look closely, you can see the corners of the bowtie in the close up photo, but from a few feet back it's virtually unnoticeable. Heck, depending on your metal working skills you may even be able to hammer those out once you cut the hole out. I think it gives the truck a classic factory look that GM should have done.
