Looking for opinions on seat color
I just got my truck back from paint and now that I look at my bench seat installed I'm just not feeling its a good match. I love the seat but it just looks a bit drab to me in contrast to the warmer tone of the new paint color. The seat is upholstered in the style/pattern for a 64-65 (not 66) but in my eyes it just doesn't fit since the rest of the interior is no longer the original fawn.
So here is my query.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I would have a new cover done to match the interior and sell the cover you have. Lots of folks would like to have it. I would go with the same pattern just red and white.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I agree, you probably won't have too much trouble finding a member who's willing to help you pay for a new seat cover, as many are seeking an original looking one (myself included). And In my opinion, since you are going away from stock on the paint color, there's absolutely no reason to stop short on what makes you happy with the seat.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
Thanks for everyone chiming in. I agree the seat upholstery is nice but not just right with my paint scheme. I already painted the full interior (dash, doors, ceiling and back) so repainting the dash is not an option.
If anyone has suggestions on where to find a replacement cover please let me know. Once done I'll offer up this cover for those wanting a more authentic 64-65 style seat.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I guess I'm the odd man out on this one. I think that seat looks awesome with the new colour in there. Its a nice contrast.
I'd spend the money on something else rather than recovering that nice seat. |

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
Me and Mrs. owned and ran a paint / decorating store for 23 yrs. so I have some qualifications. Judging by the images I think it looks nice. Color evaluation over the net is risky business at best and how you're feeling it is what's important. Sounds like you want more bang in the appearance - period correct, not so much.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I like the original seat colour too. Have you selected a colour for the carpet yet? I think that will make a big difference in the overall finished look of the interior. I'd put my money toward something else.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
Count me in for choice #4. I'd say the seat is a nice subtle match with the paint. Unless your looking for something more on the wild side, I like what you have already. Just my opinion.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I think there is a 67-72 colour/pattern that would look good in there.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
Thanks guys, yes going more for appearance and preference and not so much for period specific. Also since the seat was a 64-65 pattern I didn't feel as attached to sticking with it.
The carpet I'm installing is black so fairly neutral but leans toward a darker upholstery (at least in my mind).

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
Hi Jay, I really like that pattern. Are you saying the 67-72 seat upholstery will fit on my 64-66 seat, or is it the entire bench from a 67-72 that I need to be mounted on the seat mounts before looking for the cover?
I saw the below seat in a 67 that really caught my eye. My paint is a deep burnt orange though it's hard to tell in the pictures.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I too like the tan seat. I think it would look good with a tan carpet and tan & white pin striping on the dash to blend it in. Just my 2 cents. If you go with black carpet I'd go black with the seat too.

Re: Looking for opinions on seat color
I like it as is but, I'm sure you could sell it and offset the cost of a new one. I got some pretty outrageous quotes, then I drove down to the local mom and pop furniture upholstery shop in town and took their color swatches out to the truck, I already knew what I wanted so it was just a matter of color match. Mine is marine vinyl, all new foam and fixed a couple springs, I think it cost $500. I have a tendency to thrash things, I have kids and dogs, the vinyl is super easy to clean, just bust out the magic eraser.
