Are these stock mirrors?

These mirrors came off of my 72 C10. Are they stock or aftermarket mirrors? I'm going with some small chrome mirrors after paint.

Re: Are these stock mirrors?

Stock "elephant ears". Before you drill and fill holes, sit in a truck with the "sport" mirrors.
I took my big ones off and put the chrome ones on a few years ago.
I liked how it looked but didn't care for the blind spots they created, so I refinished the big ones and put them back on. I have a long bed, so they don't look too big, but they may if you have a short bed. It's all personal preference, since it is your truck.
One last thing, be aware that the repo sport mirrors have an inherent issue with the heads coming loose from the mounting arm. If you don't drive your truck all the time, it may not be a problem, but I was daily driving mine at the time, and after the third one fell out onto the drive way, I took them off. The vendor I bought them from sent me new each time free of charge, but I couldn't justify the form over function anymore.
Like I said before, it's your truck and your decision, but I just wanted to tell you my experience..
Would like to see your truck when it's done

I have sport mirrors with the 4 screws on the back and I gotta tell you... They Suck. Passenger side is useless, had to put a convex mirror on it to be usable.

Agree. My passenger side is useless also can't see anything out of it.

I had the sport mirrors on my truck for a while. I decided the only thing the passenger mirror was good for was checking out women on the sidewalk.

Re: Are these stock mirrors?

Bigger better! I chromed my giant ones to de-mass them a little and I think it worked. These are so large that -they- are actually a blind spot. I'd prefer the ones you have from a practical standpoint.

Re: Are these stock mirrors?

Yep, stock (optional) '72 below eyeline mirrors. I don't know where the standard mirrors being called "sport mirrors" came from, but that's not what GM called them. I always called them "car mirrors". Anybody who says they work just fine must turn their head to look out the back window. They are great to look at, I like them, but they suck to look back.

If you know how to drive. These mirrors work FINE.And guess what? When you take your road test, you're supposed to turn your head.If you are paying attention to your driving no one gets into your blindspots. If you want to test your meddle come out where people don't know how to drive and the give them licenses.New Jersey.I'm from New York.lol

These mirrors are now for sale. Added them to my "Miscellaneous mirrors" thread in the parts for sale area.

If you are going to go to the sport mirrors do your self a favor and get NOS ones. They come up on here quite often. I would bet most of the people who claim they are no good are running aftermarket ones. The NOS passenger side one will adjust in far enough to be useful. Also from the factory the passenger one gets mounted further back than the drivers side there is a thread on here about it.

I did all of this and they work fine, not as good as the elephant ears but still functional.

Re: Are these stock mirrors?

These are the optional (DG4) below-eyeline mirrors. I think this design was 71-72 only.

I picked up some decent brackets for these, I'm just now looking for goosenecks and mirror heads to go with them.

Sport mirror on driver's side works fine, can't figure out why you need a pass side at all unless you're towing ? How hard is it to just look out the freaking big A$$ rear window.....jmo

These are mine. I believe they are stock. I like them better than the sport mirrors.

Talking Re: Are these stock mirrors?

I have had several side mirrors on my truck. Right now I have the sport vue mirrors and I have no problem with them at all. I drive this truck pretty much every day. I've been running the little mirrors for 15+ years now and haven't had any problems with seeing out of them.

Had these on it for a while.
The factory mounts with a set of 90's mirror heads mounted on them.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Not to be judgmental but it appears to me you created a large blind spot, especially to oncoming traffic from the passenger side.

Huh...blind spot! You look through a vent window to look at traffic coming at you? I think not sir. I look through the front windshield for that. No blind spots at all and as stated it's driven pretty much everyday and not to mention on several 3000 mile one week Power Tours with no problems. I set my mirrors for highway driving.
I never have to look behind me to see if I'm passed the car to get back over. My mirrors tell the story.

I meant a blind spot while pulling out of an driveway or intersection not driving down the highway. I have seen wrecks where the pillar was enough to block the view of oncoming traffic. If you don't have a problem with it then I don't either.
