quality sheet metal US made advise
We are looking for rocker panels for our 64 c10 and some of the a lot of the ones we are finding are made overseas. We would like to get us made ones to avoid fit issues. We have found the company Tabco and they are made in the US. Has anyone used them and have you been happy with how they fit? Also we found GoodMark panels not sure where these are made. Did some research but came up with nothing. We are planning on tackling a lot this winter and would like to get parts ordered. Any information that can be provided would be great.
Thanks |

Interesting. I have emailed them with the specific question as to where they are made.

All the full aftermarket fenders for that year truck are made overseas. We make the partial sections here in Ohio, part # 50920 and 50921. Rockers are imported that year as well. Our product line really gets started with the 67-72 Chevy. On the 60-66 we make the fender sections, cab floors, cab mounts, and cab corners. |

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
Thank you D Powers and Green77 for getting some answers. You had everyones hopes up! Well at least they are making some repair panels here in the USA; maybe in the future they will have more 60-66 parts that are higher quality than the imported stuff.
I need all 4, both front and rear fenders, so as it looks like all fenders are coming from Taiwan, I will order from LMC and get free shipping >$1,000.

Just wondering if anyone else has ordered rocker panels for a 60 - 66 and what kind of luck they had with them. I would like to get them ordered soon but feel like I need to do my homework first. |

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
I just installed inner and out rockers on my 64. The fit was not terrible but did require alot of adjustments. Mine came from classic industries in CA. I guess the best description would be most parts are similar in appearance not exact.

I tried to fit the lousy repop ones and they sucked so I found some NOS ones and they fit like a glove.

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
I bought Goodmark inner and outer rockers and they all required work to fit. I had to piecut/stretch the inner rockers near the front and hammer and dolly all the corners of the outer rockers. I also had to break the welds on the the outer rockers and increase the angle of the bottom folds.

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
I replaced inner and outer rockers and the lower piller. All needed some mods to fit correctly.

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
Very interesting!, as in recent years the consensus was that all vendors were selling the same stampings from the same overseas factory(ies).
Tabco states "AMERICAN-MADE steel" and " Every product featured in our catalog is available from our Ohio factory and warehouse" I am surprised that no one has heard of them. Maybe some of our Cleveland area folks can weigh in.

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
I have used Tabco in the past on other projects but not in several years. Fit was good on those.

Re: quality sheet metal US made advise
Very interesting. I also would like to know where to get some outer rockers that fit well. I tried one set from a local vendor and ended up taking them back. JUNK!!
Wishing I would have just repaired my original rockers. Arg..... If anyone knows place for sure to purchase good rockers please chime in. |
