Stumbled upon this today

One of the luxuries of doing what I do, which is drilling water wells in rural areas, is coming across things like this in barns. 64 k10, all original pickup with a flatbed. Original owners with 283 v8. Working on buying it now but here it is.

Re: Stumbled upon this today

isn't it a blast to find stuff like that? I was driving down a back road in Lampasas a few months ago and about locked up my brakes to make a u-ey and go back and see a 65 swb wearing its original light yellow paint on the side of the road (and for sale). Nothing special, except for the fact that it still had its dealer installed Lampasas Chevrolet bumper on it and the ancient cattle fencing in the bed. This little truck hauled cattle in the bed! Well, phooey, I didn't buy it. Don't make that mistake, hope you're able to work out a deal, looks like a nice truck.

Thanks for the kind words, I believe I'm going to pick it up Thursday! Can't get over all the dirt on it and how long it's been sitting in hiding

Re: Stumbled upon this today

Well I got her bought and picked up. Pretty neat old thing, my question for the guys on here is what are the chances that it was ordered with a 327 in 1964? Valve cover in the sea foam green says high torque 327

Smile Re: Stumbled upon this today

As far as I know, the 327 didn't come out until 1966 in the trucks.
That wouldn't slow me down a bit on that jewel.
Congratulations on a great find !!

Re: Stumbled upon this today

Big trucks could have the 327 in 64. What are the numbers on the pad in front of the passenger head?

Re: Stumbled upon this today

Where'd you find that at? Be useful for future reference. Wonder where the 327 valve cover came from.

Re: Stumbled upon this today

I used this site
http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php

The suffix part (the M) on the site shows up wrong but in the front (page 8) of the LMC parts catalog it lists the suffix codes.
