Opinions on Summit racing paint?
Looking to possibly use this on my 70 for the final paint. Also curious on durability.
Any opinions/examples? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-up312/overview/

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
I don't play into the buy everything from the one monster retailer game. I buy paint from local paint suppliers. Spread the wealth, support my local economy.

Who makes the paint for Summit?
That answer will tell you more about the quality of paint. It also depends what type of paint job you are looking for. Good Luck

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
I used Summit base and clear on my 70', first time painter and feel if there are any faults in it, it was me! Two years later and it still looks good to me!! Oh, and head over to the "Paint & Body" section here, two or three Master Painter who can help out, I spent my whole time there during my paint job....

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
Yes I have used it before, very good product and yes it is a single stage. Like said previously prep work is as important as actually shooting the paint it will only look as good as what you prepare it for.

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
I just carried a friend/customer to the paint place I use, we got a gal of victory red and 2 quarts of tan, 2 gal of MR 186 reducer and MC161 Omni plus clear and a quart of clear hardner and it was $599.95. that is with my shop number placed in the account line. The $86 dollar gal of clear with out my number in the computer was like $115. Just an idea of what stuff is going for. Jim

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
Agree 100% with the recommendations to go local. I did some of my own research into different processes and talked to a few body guys so I didn't sound like a complete moron when I walked into the paint supply. But the paint supply guys were great. They were even asking me questions about everything I'd done, plans for the top coat, etc and gave advice and recommendations to help me get the right/best stuff. Way better than waiting for an email reply from some keyboard jocky in customer support who has never touched the stuff they're selling.

Re: Opinions on Summit racing paint?
I think most are on par with Shopline, which is a decent paint.
Prob the same stuff as Eastwood, which I shot on my car. The high end stuff can get crazy, esp reds, etc-but good results with the cheaper stuff |
