SB400 Accessory Holes?
I understand the SB400 to be the same block as the SB350... Blah, blah... However, I have acquired the front serpentine setup from a '99 5.7 and would like help to confirm it will bolt on before buying all new accessories and tearing the front of the engine off of my SB400.
Thanks, Boudy |

Re: SB400 Accessory Holes?
Not sure if a 3rd generation front serpentine setup will work but a 2nd generation V8 front serpentine setup Will work and will pretty much bolt right on. I did this with mine and am really happy with mine.IMHO if its not to late I would try to get the 2nd generation one. I believe they are still readily available in wrecking yards. If you do go this route send ma a PM and i'll help ya out.

Re: SB400 Accessory Holes?
The diagram show an acc drive from a 96-00 5.7 [old style ] small block and you should have no problems with it. The drive from those years placed the Alt on the pass side and the A/C compressor on the drivers. The 1st gen serp setup however placed the A/C [r4 type] compressor on the pass side and the Alt on the drivers above the power steering pump. either will work for you it is just a matter of visual and what you want. Re: SB400 Accessory Holes?
Should work just fine as long as you have the three bolt holes in the heads.

Re: SB400 Accessory Holes?
Beats the hell out of me! However what I think I can say is that the system you are using appears to be what was primarily used on the L05 5.7 built from 1988 to 1996. The ones I have are for the L31 5.7 (Vortec) built from 1996 to 2002. Both the L05 and L31 were Gen 1 just the L31 was used in trucks while the LT series Gen 2 was used in the F-Bodies.
I think... Sure somebody knows definitively. Boudy Last edited by TXBoudy; 12-08-2016 at 10:29 PM. Reason: Yeah, what Jim said! |
