Absolute/*****in firewall install

Can anyone steer me towards a build where the builder replaced the firewall and floors with Absolute/*****in parts for reference? I tried searching with no luck.

That stuff was around under the *****in brand for years on end before the new owner took over and he worked for the original owner.

There were articles in some of the Truck and rod magazines about putting them in years ago and from what I remember it is a straight forward deal of trim the old out on the line and weld the new in.

or you could always just have a fab shop bend you up some 16 ga and figure the rest out yourself. i assume you have a welder because the other system needs welding too. here are some pics of what I did, you don't need to cut the whole thing out, just what you want. leave the original holes for steering and pedals etc if that is what you want. make the hole like you want as well. square also works. leave room for your foot on the gas pedal.

make sure to brace the surrounding area of the hole before you cut it, like pic shows with square tubing welded across the area.
also measure and template the hinge mounting holes, pedal holes, steering column hole, etc and take pics before you cut that part away, if that is what the plan is. use centre punch holes on the template to line up with that part of the cab later, less chance of making a mistaaake.

you can make your own jigs to get the angles to stay where you want them. magnets and vice grips work good. tack stuff in place and fit it all before welding too much stuff in for real.

Was really just looking for a pictorial of the process. In reading the included instructions it seems pretty straightforward but the pictures leave a little to be desired. Also if anyone had any dues or don'ts to offer I'm all ears

floor first, then once its bolted to the frame do the firewall

So it was just a bunch of sheet metal pieces you has to weld up yourself? I would have thought it came with the recess welded in. best DIY one I have seen used a flat sheet for the firewall and steel wheel barrow cut in half for the recess, less welding.

The Absolute/*****in pieces are formed and complete. They look fantastic. I will take a pic of the firewall and post it tomorrow.

those pics are just the toe boards and front floor
these are the firewall with a stock floor that we installed to get the seat riser and then replaced the front floor section with the Absolute kit and firewall

and no the firewall isn't buckled. Its an illusion with the light and primer we laid a flat edge over it and its flat but looks warpped

Dave's photos show one thing that is an must do on these and any cabs you work on. Get the cab squared up and get the door openings right and the doors fitted first and then brace the daylights out of the cab before cutting it apart to replace the sheet metal. It's all but impossible to square things up after you do all the cutting, fitting and welding.
