STICKY Tach

Good evening all,

I just finished the install of my new Tach/Vac cluster and everything was working great. I revved the engine a couple of times and noticed that the Tach needle was stuck around the 2500 rpm mark. I tapped on the lens and it went back down but it seems to do it regularly now. Suggestions???

Haven't figured anything new out since. I just know that generally when I start it up, the tach is dead, then it will begin "highpointing" and sticking like yours is, and once the truck is warmed up fully and we're on the way somewhere the tach decides to work properly. I'll dig deeper if it eventually stops working altogether.

I had a tach that would always get stuck around 1800. sometimes it would go down with tapping, sometimes it wouldn't. When I had the dash apart to clean it up, I found that the needle was slightly bent upwards contacting the center. I gently pushed on the needle to bend it down enough where it wouldn't catch on the center and had not had a problem since then.

That's the exact problem I am having. It seemed free when I installed it but it's right around the 18-20 mark. Thanks for the comment.
