72 k5 blazer heat problem

my 72 k5 blazer doesnt turn on after i shut it down from driving it after a while. i believe its the headers to close to the starter that causing the problem. what can i do to keep it from over heating my starter???

Take some pics from the underside at the starter. Maybe you can add a sheet metal shield to keep the heat off the starter?

Add a heat shield over your starter solenoid OR install a Ford style remote solenoid away from exhaust heat. I went with the remote solenoid solution years ago and have never experienced solenoid "heat soak" since.

I had the same problem. I got a small high torque starter. Its been years since installing it without a problem.

Also make sure the connections to the starter and solenoid are clean and tight. Any extra electrical resistance in the wiring and connections can make the original problem worse.

Yeah, those mini high torque starters will likely solve your problems.

Had the same problem. I bought a high torque mini starter from a 96 silverado and bolted right up and no problems since.
