Lower fender bolts
Hey people, I'm looking for the bolt size for the lower rear fender bolt on the front fender of a 1955.2 chevy. Need to bolt fenders down.....the previous owner had wire to hold them in place.
I don't want to carry the whole fender into the hardware store to match up the nut to a bolt, and can't find it online anywhere. Thanks |

bolts are pretty cheap. maybe buy a few fine thread as well. my truck seems to have a mix of fine and course depending on what is still stock compared to what has been jury rigged by the farmer. you can always take back what you didn't use, right?

You probably have one in the bolt bucket that you can trial fit to make sure what diameter and thread it is but I'd think 3/8 SAE or USS (Course/fine) would be the right one.

Mine is a 54 but better get the "giant" "fender washers" as well to keep from pulling through the slotted holes. As I recall on mine, there was the clutch head style bolts with no washers going from inside the bed, the fender washers, lock washers, and nuts.

do you have a tap & die set ? I find running a tap in is an easy way to find the correct bolt & it also cleans up the threads
