14 BFF WMS-WMS widths

Ok so I have read a lot about the various widths of the 14 bolt FF but I haven't seen any indication about the suitability of them for use in, say, a 1971 K20. Between the 63.5" width and the 67" width. Is either more suitable or unusable when replacing an eaton HO52?
I am about to purchase a 14bff out of an '85 k20 that was a cab and chassis truck. It measures 63.5". I will be running stock rims with no intention of ever going bigger than 33".

Everything you ever wanted to know about 14bff....one of the best rear axles ever made and very very stout. I also got rid of my HO52.

Re: 14 BFF WMS-WMS widths

That sounds like the narrow dually rear end. Which would be too narrow for single wheel use in a srw truck.
You want a single wheel axle out of a C20/K20 or C30/K30. The 67" rear is the one to get to look the part under a srw truck.
One out of a c20/k20 will need the spring perches changed and shock mounts moved. If out of a 1 ton, the spring perches are already set correctly.

Re: 14 BFF WMS-WMS widths

Thanks guys. I have read the pirate 4x4 14 bolt bible. It never really addresses which of the widths is best suited for a 67-72. But that makes sense since it is not particular to a truck model.

To summarize this subject on my end, I did not buy that axle I initially was looking at. I instead bought a 14 bolt out of a 1990 1 ton. Sadly, this one is beyond the range of years where the perches are correctly positioned, so I will be moving those as well as the shock mounts. This axle I bought is the 67" width, has a limited slip and sports the big, 13" drum brakes . Thanks for the input blksuper4x4!

Re: 14 BFF WMS-WMS widths

I've read that the early 14Bs for a C&C DRW truck had the right spring perch width and with a hub swap would be very close to the right WMS as well. That would leave one shock mount to possibly be relocated.

Re: 14 BFF WMS-WMS widths

Well a quick search using the box at the top header shows this thread for WMS to WMS of the HO52/72
