Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
https://www.copart.com/lot/44464016?...cleAlert_Image
Looking at the pictures, it appears the bed went into the cab on the passenger side. Higher bumper into the bed and then into the cab? Too bad, SWB 4x4 with AC. Probably some good parts under the hood and front clip. |

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
I've seen this before. A guy went 4 wheeling on some trails and went to fast on a left hand bend on a dirt road and put a big tree between the bed and cab. That looks like what he did. Went side ways into something. Does he really want to get $25,000 for a wrecked truck?

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
25,000 is estimated retail not an asking price. It is going up for auction from what I can see. Looked like it was a decent truck

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
It may not be worth $2500 to some but seeing these trucks sell wrecked and being in this "bidness" for almost 30 years I'd say that truck will go high 6's

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
I agree, if that's a true SWB 4x4 it will still sell for a high #. I hate using this word, but real shortbed 4x4's are "rare."

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
It looks to me as if it may have been backed into by a box van or slid into one. Looks to be relatively low speed hit. From this distance would say it is fixable. And if you got it for $2500 it would be a great deal.

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
Since this is a salvage company, I am sure the insurance company has to place a value before the accident. That's where the $25k comes in. I know guys who have picked these up for he scrap price so if I was in Sacramento, I would be a player. To me, it almost looks like it bent inward since the bed appears to have pushed the cab into the door jamb. No significant damage to the front or rear.

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
I investigated several accidents being former law enforcement. This accident appears to be a passenger side, same direction angle accident such as a merge or a angle rear direction. It also looks like the rear cab corner stopped the action. If you look at how the bed was pushed out on the drivers side it shows that the point of impact was on the passenger side, mid bed in front of the tire. Also it looks like the frame may be bent due to the front wheel wells looking like there is more space on top the front drivers tire than the passengers side. Of course this is all my opinion just from looking at the photos. I would definitely give the frame a good inspection. Also climb under and see if the trans mount is broken or stretched. That usually occurrs in bent frames. Good luck

Re: Trying to figure out how this truck got hit
That bed sure is tweaked up high. If it's not torn off the frame, the frame has got to be twisted. It could be some odd force from the way it hit the tree that caused the cab floor to be be squashed down over the frame with the top being pushed more sideways...leverage at an angle. I dunno
