Vortec 5.3 to Saginaw SM420
I'm planning to do a Vortec swap soon and I was wondering what I would need to adapt a 5.3 to the factory SM420 in my 1966 C10. I saw on some of the off-road forums that it's been done, but their set-ups were so different that I figured I'd try to get advice from someone who's done it in a C10. If someone could tell me what flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, and throw-out bearing I'd need it would be great. Also, does anyone know how much power a SM420 will hold? I'm planning to swap in a Muncie 4-speed eventually for the better ratios so I'm hoping that the adapter components would also work with that. Also, is it possible (and recommended) to attach the factory clutch linkage with the pivot arm and ball that screws into the block? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Vortec 5.3 to Saginaw SM420
I know you'll have to use a 4.8 flywheel. I believe you can use the other equipment used with that trans.
