Rear Diff Identification

I think I know what this is. These pics are off my 69 C10 12 bolt rear diff. Anyone want to finalize the puzzle for me. The id tags had me stumped for awhile. I hope I did the pictures right. (first timer) Taking stock of what I have before I rip everything down for rebuild.

Re: Rear Diff Identification

What are you wanting to know? What could those numbers tell you if you already know it came on a 69 C10?

Not sure if Canada used different stamping or not but I think the string of numbers with the letter behind it is a date code and the K denotes the assembly plant.

Here are the rear axle code charts for the US trucks, not sure if they would be right north of the border or not.

On that chart there is nothing that shows a "6A". (Picture #3) Could the letter before the "0314" or "O314"be a faint H? Making this a 4.11 posi produced in Canada? March 14 @ McKinnon Industries in St. Catharines, Ont.

Since the important numbers seem to be missing you will probably have to open it up and check the numbers on the ring gear. You would then use the Red chart in post #2 to tell you the ratio....

Re: Rear Diff Identification

I've been burned more than once with the codes. Things change over nearly 50 years. I'm a firm believer in just pulling the cover and looking. At this point in it's life I'm sure it needs a fluid change anyhow.
