Our detail guy is a magician.
I painted the tailgate from the trim up, and the white along the bottom looked like it had been painted with house paint so I repainted that, the rest is all original paint. Then wE took the K10 to the detail shop yesterday.

I bought an Ochre 72 Cheyenne Super C10 in 1980. Nobody would look at because of the faded color. I took it home and started buffing and waxing. The truck got really popular then.

Re: Our detail guy is a magician.
I had a faded out Medium Olive Poly '71 K/20 people used to call puke green. I don't know what they eat, but I admit it wasn't all that attractive. I got it ready for paint and they'd ask, "What color are you going to paint it?" and when I'd say, "Same color", I'd get a bewildered "Oh". Once I painted people were asking, "What color is that, Candy Apple Green? Looks great!". I'd tell them it's puke green.

Re: Our detail guy is a magician.
That looks GREAT!
It's amazing what some rubbing compound, time and LOTS of elbow grease can do, then a nice coat of wax! I did this to a couple body panels on my old Studebaker and it turned out AMAZING, so we tried it on my son's truck and it has made GREAT strides so far. We originally thought we would have to repaint it, now, we may just heavily detail it first, THEN see if it needs to be repainted. Hope you gave him a GREAT TIP for that work!

Re: Our detail guy is a magician.
Amazing transformation. My favorite color as well, and the white steel wheels and BFG's look right at home. How much did you give for a detail of that extent if I can ask? He did a great job.

Re: Our detail guy is a magician.
In the "before" pictures, it looks like there is a large, shallow, dent in the left rear quarter. It doesn't appear in the "afters." How did you/he get it out so cleanly?

Look at the left front fender, behind the tire. Something had pushed the inner fender up and pulled the fender in. I used the same method there.
