Going to look at a 73-75 K5 later today

I ran across a pretty good deal on a 73-75 K5 Blazer the other day, I will be going to look at it later tonight to see what it's all about. I have limited information on it and the pics I received weren't all that great, so I'll wait to post my own up, but this is what I know from the owner and/or from the pictures:

*73-75 model year
*Full convertible top
*Inline 6 engine, no transmission. Unsure if originally manual or auto
*4WD
*Cheyenne model (possibly Super? Hard to tell trying to zoom in, but it appears to be)
*A/C vents visible on dash
*Turbine mag wheels
*Original color appears to be white/beige. Truck is very dirty and moss covered in pics
*Woodgrain panel interior

It's hard to tell if the truck in the pictures is rusty or just incredibly dirty, but I'll wait to see this in person. The worst part is that there is no title, but I've dealt with that many times, so it shouldn't be a huge issue. I'm not sure what my plans would be with this thing, but I do have a powertrain from a mid-80s Suburban still around that I could drop in to make it run and drive. But for the price I'm looking at, I'll probably bring it home with me either way!

Re: Going to look at a 73-75 K5 later today

I wasn't able to get any of my own pictures since this thing is covered in about 3 feet of snow right now, but I'll post up the ones he sent me. I couldn't get the hood or glove box opened to check out the engine or any of the tags, but it is a Cheyenne, not a Super. Roll bar is intact and the bench seat has what appears to be a built in center console with a wooden cupholder insert? There was so much crap piled inside it was hard to tell. The interior is all woodgrain though. It's decently beat up a bit all the way around, but the rockers appear fairly solid, although I'm betting the floor pans themselves will probably have issues. Taking this home for $100 plus whatever the tow bill ends up being. Edit: Also, unfortunately the other side appears to have Rally wheels. I was really hoping the entire set of mags would be there.

Went out and unburied this thing last night, it had a ton of snow on top, as well as had a path plowed out for the slideback to get to it.

Poor old girl. She needs some TLC for sure. Do you mind me asking what sort of $$$ she is costing?

I ended up paying $100 for it I think the tow back to my house will be about another $100-150. Plus the guy says he has the other matching turbine wheels for it!

Yeah, that's always true. It'll have to wait until the stepside is finished though!

You got a cool set of mags for $100, project truck thrown in. Post some interior pics when you can, what's shown so far appears to be pretty good.

For $100-you stole it. If it's too rusty to restore "easily" ie-not spending a fortune....It would be a great parts truck!

Great way to look at it! I know I've easily gotten my money's worth in just parts alone on this thing. Hoping to keep it from a parts rig though, full verts are becoming rare enough as it is. The interior isn't *too* bad, but it definitely is packed full of crap and needs to be cleaned out. I'll be having it picked up Sunday or Monday.

Thanks. From what I've (barely) seen of it so far, the rust isn't bad, it looks more like a little bit of body damage along the lower edges than anything. I'm not planning on restoring it, but I would eventually like to get it back into driveable condition again without dumping a whole lot into it. It might be a good rig to practice installing patch panels on, and get it back to decent shape. But yeah, for $100? Can't lose no matter what I do.

Based on what you did with the 78, this is easy peasy for you.

Re: Going to look at a 73-75 K5 later today

Thank you!

This truck might still end up sitting for a while before I get around to doing much with it. One, I need to acquire a title which takes a little time, I don't like to work on things unless they're in my name. And two, I have a 67 Camaro I'm supposed to be restoring! I keep getting distracted and filling up the garage and yard with all these other projects!

Re: Going to look at a 73-75 K5 later today

Alright, this baby is out and home! Took a little bit of extraction work but overall it came out pretty smoothy. I was also able to look underneath the truck while it was being loaded. The transmission, transfer case, and drivelines are all removed. I saw the transfer case in the back but not the transmission, that I could tell. The frame has a plate welded behind the steering box. It also does indeed have an inline 6 engine, but I have yet to get the hood open. The guy told me he found one of the other matching rims, but is still looking for the 4th. Hopefully he comes across it! It also appears to have lift springs in the front but not the back?

Yes, also seems to be Ochre under the beige paint. I believe that is probably the original color.

Also, matching wheels!
