Newbie 1963 Stepside Question
Just picked up my wife's grandmothers 1963 stepside. It has a straight 6cyl with 41,000 original miles. I plan to restore back to it's original condition (as close as I can) I'm the type guy that can do most everything but I haven't turned wrenches in many, many, many, many moons. My question is the shop manuals that you can buy do they tell stuff how to remove the stepside, how to replace the wood in the bed, and replace weather stripping and stuff like that????
Thanks for any advice.... Marcus |

Re: Newbie 1963 Stepside Question
Welcome and congrats on the new truck.
Not sure as I have never had one, but using the FAQ section and the search tool you can find virtually anything you need to. You may want to become a member to use the "what it's worth" buying, selling etc on this sight (just a suggestion). Believe me if you want the info someone on here has done it before you and has documented it here. Have fun with it.

Re: Newbie 1963 Stepside Question
Removing the bed replacing the wood is straight forward. Nothing to complicated that it would need explanation from a shop manual.
The weatherstrips are explained in the shop manual. Like The Rocknrod said, great amount of info is readily available on the site. We love pictures so don't be shy. Welcome to the site. You won't find all the answers in the original literature. BUT I DO ENCOURAGE YOU TO BUY A SHOP MANUAL. Operators manual also comes in handy. You can also browse through my Picasa album ( link below) Enjoy your project, when you get frustrated, simply post your observations or questions and we'll be happy to help out. And remember there's no stupid questions asked on here, they always generate a new answer or query. P.S. post you Trim and Paint code and you can add you Serial Number if you like to be explained. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=604347&page=7
