Keep it...or sell it?

For a while now, i have known that I will have to sell the GMC one day, once the longhorn is on the road and proves to be dependable. While I do kinda hate the old POS turd, I guess I have grown attached to her, and in reality, I don't really want to give her up.
Last night, the wife actually said something that shocked the crap right out of me, she said that we could probably get historical tags for one of the two trucks (a one time $25 fee) and drive the other. She did say that i can't expect to put much...if any $$ into the parked one, but doing this would keep it legal, and no one could say a dam thing about it.
However, on the flip side, i have a few problems with doing this.

1. We have all met the guy who has the SWB truck sitting in the back yard rotting away and he won't sell becouse "I'm going to restore it one day". I don't want to be that guy.

2. In all reality, I could take the $$ that I would get for selling the GMC, and pour it all into the Longhorn, and into my tool box. (I DO need to buy some tools)

3. I have room for it, but not realisticly. I live on a narrow street, and do NOT like parking on it, and the driveway is too short for all 3 vehicles. As it is, the GMC is on the curb, the Longhorn at the top of the drive, and the wife's Contous is actually partially blocking the sidewalk.

Sell it. Nothing like getting money , haven more room, and putting more times towards the project thats needs it. Tools are always a plus too. Just set up a little sheet of how much you're going to sell it for and see what you can do with that money to get the longhorn running and get the tools you need. When you do sell it have a plan to get the parts you need ASAP to get the longhorn running so you're not left in the dust.

I vote sell it...why throw money at 2 trucks? Keep it simple. You know when you get the LH running you'll never drive the turd again.:p

I'd keep it. It is getting harder and harder to find these trucks, and you have one that is pretty diserable. It won't be worth the money you will get to let it go.

Sometimes, it's just time to holler 'whoa' in the horse race.

Sell the GMC, get some tools, keep the longhorn.

I say sell the turd for whatever you can get for it and start in on the Longhorn. After all, you are the LONGHORN MAN, not the TURD GUY I have my 72 and 2 parts trucks now, but after this weekend I will be down to 1 parts truck because I am stripping the one and selling off anything that is good so I can dump more money into the 72 and get it done. Do whatcha gotta do my friend

But i say sell it

Sounds like you need to find a place with about 5 acres and build a nice heated shop that can hold 3-4 trucks so you can get away from the wife and find serenity in this crazy world!

I'm sorry, what was the question again?

Sell it someone who will restore it and use the money to buy tools and really finish the Longhorn off nicely. I think too many projects just spreads you too thin and none of them really gets done properly. Just my .02!

Paul 72, that's what I'm doin'. I'm on 5 acres, have a 24 x 30 shop now, and have the plans for another 4 car garage. Saving the money is still the toough part.

Sell it and make you longhorn look "Dope" I would rather have one super rad truck than 2 not so cool ones.

This may just be me but even if I was in your situation I would keep it...I have a respectable truck but if I do get around to making it a beauty queen I still want to "Drive The Legend" and a beater 67-72 would give me that feeling no matter how it looks...may be silly but I'm well on my way to becoming a fanatic...just one truck away...lol

Sell the old turd and fix up the longhorn It cost so much to fix up one truck much less two of them. I have over 20 grand in my truck now not including the purchase price. I would not consider another truck till this one is done.

I think to make a fair assessment, we'd have to see a pic of both trucks, maybe you have posted them before and I missed them, but when you call one of them a turd, its amost a forgone conclusion, LOL
