1985 suburban lowering question
so now a new question. does anyone know the size of the nut on top of the lower ball joint?
i was going to try and for now, remove the springs and cut them in the front and put shackles in the back for a quick drop while i decide on which spindle and flip kit combo to go with.. as well as shock extenders.....take it i will need them unless i get new shocks. don't want to spend the money right now on all sorts of parts. anyway, i tried getting the shock on pass side off and the bolt got stripped out on me. gotta figure out how to get that bolt off..... stripped the bold near control arm. but need to know what size the bolt on the ball joint is, so i can get that socket before i attempt this quick drop again. thanks for any help will eventually get spindles for the front and flip it out back, just trying to get it down a little bit sooner on the cheap. |

I've seen it done where people take all types of things apart to get to the spring. then again, i saw one where the guy didn't take brakes off or anything and was able to get springs out. |

i cut front coils, messed the lower ball joints so i replaced them this morning, will do the uppers when i get my spindles..
now, rear. not sure how I'm supposed to attack it. i have some shackles in garage from an old truck. thought id put them on after cutting coils to have a better stance. looked at driver side rear....not chance of getting bolts out. if i cut em. not sure hot to get new ones in. pass side is opposite. i can get them 2 out no problem. was gonna wait and order spindles/flip kit/ and i guess i need the shock extenders for rear. but not sure ill be able to tackle job if i cant get them 2 bolts out. any ideas. |

got her lower for now. did it the cheap way for now until i order parts.
wanted to throw some shackles that i had laying in the garage on for a simple quick drop. but since the spare tire well leaves me no room to get the bolt out, i chose to pull a couple leafs out still looking for answers from anyone who has lowered a c10 2 wheel drive suburban as to how to get the bolts out and new ones in since the future plan will be to do a flip kit and spindles etc. but for now, just cut a coil and a half off the front spring and pulled 3 leafs. this weekend i will most likely put back in the fat bottom spring. think its called an overload spring. or 2 regular leaf. i had 6 and now only 3. think the rear needs to go up a bit and the ride aint that great where it sits now. hopefully adding one more leaf will help until i order parts to do proper drop and maybe get an answer on the rear.
