Need help finding the correct starter
I'm about to drop in a 400 SBC w/ 168 tooth flex plate. I've read about someone recommending using a high torque starter for 69-70 Corvettes (LT1), but haven't been able to find that. Just looking for a good high torque mini starter that for sure will work for my 400 SBC, just want to do it right the first time around. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Re: Need help finding the correct starter
Go the parts store and look at a starter, the factory high torque motor has the motor terminal almost at the end of the motor and uses a thin copper tube spacer between the connection and the solenoid. If the motor terminal attaches directly to the solenoid its not the HD version.

Re: Need help finding the correct starter
yeah, you don't need the mini starter, like Randy 500 said, just get the hd starter with the longer terminal

Re: Need help finding the correct starter
I would go opposite. Yes, the longer starters are higher torque but they are still only good for so long. Get a factory mini-starter for a '95 Suburban.

Re: Need help finding the correct starter
yep the 95 suburban starter is way better, and you can get one anywhere if it craps out on a road trip.
