Disc brake dust shield questions
I just bought mcgaughys disc brake kit stock height kit. I can't seem to find disc dust shields for trucks. Anyone know if the ones from the cars will work in the trucks?

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
I don't think mcgaugheys are drilled for the shields, at least the ones I have aren't.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
Will it matter if I don't use dust shields or am I asking for trouble if I leave them off?

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
If the factory put them on, I'd say that they are necessary. I bought a POS kit, and didn't get dust shields, either. I'm not finding any online...

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
Do you have a 1/2T truck? If so, you are good to go. Mine's 3/4T, and I don't think that the 1/2T shields will work.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
Yes mines a 1/2 toń. I could see 3/4 ton being hard to find.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
I've been running for years without them, no problems.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
I'm one of those picky-ass guys that likes to keep the stuff operating like engineering designed it...mostly. I'd like to get the dust shields for mine; I'll probably go to a local salvage yard and get a pair, before my next wheel bearing repack. Which, based on how much I drive it, may be in about 5 years.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
you can get them from lots of places like POL, LMC, etc. about 50 bucks a pair.

Re: Disc brake dust shield questions
I had enough fun with POS doing my disc brake upgrade, what with damaged and/or missing parts and a completely unresponsive "management" team; I'll never use them again. LMC only shows 1/2T parts for the disc brake dust shields. That's why I'm going to pull some from a wrecking yard, when I get time.
