The GVW info is on the tag that is riveted to the drivers side kick panel. The towing capacity is going to depend on a few factors. Such as what engine is in your Suburban and what it has for brakes.

Re: 1966 suburban towing capacity?
You will want disc brakes on front and good HD trailer hitch. I would use weight distributing hitch and sway control. Coil springs in the rear are also an added problem. I put new progressive weight coil springs in mine along with air shocks. I have towed lots of trailers with other rigs but my burb has been a challenge with only a 16 foot vintage Shasta trailer.

Yeah, the thing I'd be most worried about is stopping with drum brakes. Just don't have the same authority that disks do.

OK thanks guys. i thought i may have been dreaming to big. I just got the truck so i may start with the disk brakes first. We still have so much snow outside the shop so it will be a while until i bring the truck out. thanks for the great ideas and the helpful info

you might also consider going with a hydroboost system instead of a vacuum booster.Your brakes will work way better.
