Help me fix this problem
Post #6 shows my fix
I bought new door latches from LMC and they are garbage. I will reinstall the OEM. When the teeth are not in the best shape, how are you correcting it? I thought about drilling a hole in the gear so the set screw from the door/window crank can "bite" a little better. Any and all suggested fixes are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What you suggested is what I did. The regulators available now don't last and the cranks are also junk. I had some rechromed originals.

I bought my new ones from truckandcarshop.com , and had no problem with them, I have not bought anything from LMC, so I do not know what their quality is.

My set screws sit in the groove below the splines. I'm not sure how different repop door handles are, but if they're pretty close in screw location, you might not have much engagement with the handle splines with the way you've got yours set up. When my handles are fully in place, they sit just above the door panel.

It looks like you door opener is on the wrong side. That looks like a passenger one. Also the set screw should be much closer in and not in the splines like Kerber said.

This picture is the passenger door. I thought the same thing. The door opener fits fine on both doors. The window cranks dont fuller push on, I have them on as far as they go. These are OE handles and not aftermarket. Maybe I will move the handles to the opposite door and see if that changes anything.

You are correct. LMC door latch relays are junk. That said, I'm not sure the others are any better. The most glaring design fault of these is that the base of the splined shaft is a polygon "gear" that engages with a polygon hole in the relay arm. The material thickness of each is about about 1/8" or less. Any type of pressure on that part of the assembly and they pull free from each other. I've gone through two sets. If anyone knows where I can get some quality relays, please let me know.
Concerning the spline fix, you can drill a blind hole, a through hole or file a flat side on the spindle. It's important to know just exactly where your set screw makes contact so I suggest you coat the spindle with Dykem layout ink to determine where they make contact. Hope this helps.

I got these from the truck shop. Had no problems door handles dont fall off.

Thanks. Do you have a link or URL for "the truck shop". Doing a search, I get several hits but none of them appear to be for classic trucks. The only one that had these parts was a site called "The Truck and Car Shop? Is that it?
