Rear sliding windows in a blazer
has anyone else seen a set of rear sliding windows? I've never seen a set in person, but I'v seen a web site with a blazer that had them. Does anyone have any pics? More importantly does someone have some to sell to me? What about adapting a set from a later blazer? how close do the windows match? I'm sure it would take just a little bit of fiberglass work, what do you guys think?

Nothing's impossible, but it would be a lot of work. The 1st Gen Blazers have a taper in the side window - going from smaller at the back to taller at the front. The 2nd gens don't. They're more rectangular. Also they made a lot more of them ['73-'87] so there's a bigger market for an accessory manufacturor to get interested in.
Someone custom making a slider frame would have to narrow the window frame at the front and use a sheetmetal fillet to counter the taper. Then figure out the custom glass, vent window and locks. And then do it in mirror image for the other side. I'm not so sure about structural integrity of the '69/'72 top, especially double wall [which I have] if you wanted to cut it out big enough to fit a 2nd gen type slider window from off the shelf. Don't get me wrong, it would be way cool; I just don't see how it's worth the hassle. But I'm not a window guy. My 2 cents. |

is anything custom worth the hassle? I just think it would be cool to get some air flow back there. I have an extra top that was on my truck, when it got hit by a tree branch, so I wouldn't have to cut up my good top. it just gets so stuffy back there some times and I think it would be cool. I want to find the pics to show you guys. does anyone have pics of both the side window shapes.

I am 99% sure that there were aftermarket rear sliding windows available for 1st gen Blazer/Jimmy back in the day. There was a good thread on the topic back on the old Wulf's Blazer Den board a few years ago.

are those 69-72 or 73 and later? where did you come across them. Do you still have them? would you be interested in letting them go? If you still have them but want to keep them, could you take some more detailed pics? thanks red72

Someone sold them on ebay a year back or so... said they were from a 69-72 blazer so I saved the pic.
