preferred p/s gear box conversion for C10
what is the most common gear box used to convert 1971 Chevy C10 SWB SS manual steering to power steering? Will a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Power Steering Gear Box work? How about a 1983 chevy pickup 2wd P/S Pump and Gear Box will it work?
thanks, futch My Project - 1971 Chevy |

I have a 68 Chevy lwb and I just had the front end check. I was told I needed a gear box and that any gear box off any chevy truck would work, as long as it mounted to the outside of the frame. The only problem might run into is that the column shaft might be a different size. I was advised by the front end person, he could make the connection if necessary.
I am not saying this is all correct, but what I was told. I am by no means an expert, but wanting to switch to ps myself. If nothing else maybe this will have you ask some other question of someone. |

the 83 will have metric fittings with O rings. You would have to find adapter fittings / have hoses made or use the whole setup off the 83.
