Spid Locations
I have a 1979 and cannot seem to locate the SPID. I looked in the glove compartment and nothing was there except a tag with the van on it saying the truck was not made for slide in camper. I looked on the driver side and passenger side wheel well in the engine compartment and see nothing there. The truck according to the vin was made in Fremont.
They all came with SPID's right? The truck is pretty original I'm doubtful anybody removed it. It even has the original seat |

Re: Spid Locations
I have a 79 silverado and the SPID came unglued from the glovebox. I bought it from the original owner and it was well taken care of with low mileage. Luckily they had enough forethought to leave it in the glovebox. I'm somewhat new to square bodies moving on from the 67-72 trucks. My 77 is missing the SPID completely and I ordered the dealer invoice from GM Heritage. I think it was well worth the $50 if you are looking to restore to original or just curious how it came from the factory. I've heard of some people finding the build sheet tucked in the seat, but out of 3 square bodies, I havent been so lucky.

If it is there it would likely be jammed in the lower cushion seat springs. You might be able to lay in the floor and look up under the seat bottom and see it. K

Maybe not hijack this thread any further but I'd be interested in hearing about some of the other interesting stuff you've found. K
