Color Opinion

Hello all! Need help identifying color from the attached chart.

My truck will begin the paint process in about a month or so. My plan is to put it back to it's original two-tone blue color. I believe the body color is Bright Blue Irid., and the roof and side color is Dark Blue???? You can get idea of the original color from my avatar and build thread:

Pictures:
1. 1979 Exterior Chevrolet & GMC Truck Color
2. Indoor pic of fuel door and glove compartment door
3. Outdoor pic of fuel door and glove compartment door
4. Fuel door against color chart
5. Glove compartment door against color chart

My guess is the middle two colors (Bright Blue Irid. and Dark Blue)?

Thanks Mike

Re: Color Opinion

My 79 Bonanza was painted Medium Blue and white. It looks very similar to the glovebox door.

When I repainted it, I changed it over to Bahama Blue Metallic. It was very similar.

OutlawDrifter, do you think it's the middle two colors (Bright Blue Irid. and Dark Blue)?

Re: Color Opinion

Tough to tell. Need to get the color sample and the painted parts both in direct sunlight and on the same plane.

I was serious about the medium blue. Mine had a Metallic look too.

Re: Color Opinion

You're correct, I tried to get them both on the same plane and in sunlight; it's tough to tell. At times, even in direct sunlight, I go with medium blue and bright blue irid. I guess that's why I'm seeking some opinions.

Re: Color Opinion

It's really hard to say from your pictures... Mine is also a '79 and "dark blue", I have a fair bit of pictures if you'd like some to compare.

Here's one I have uploaded: http://imgur.com/M8WRghd

I checked out your build thread and you have a picture of the heavy half decal and judging by the contrast with the blue behind it, I would say mine is a darker blue than yours.

Thanks for the information and the pic link. I think you body color may be the color of my secondary trim. We'll see when I get my information from GM. Thanks Mike

Re: Color Opinion

Do you have the SPID label?

One other option would be to send your VIN to the GM Heritage Center. They can pull your original invoice including all options and pricing. That will cost you $50.

One other option might be to see if a local dealership can pull the codes for you based on your VIN.

Re: Color Opinion

Keith, thanks. Mice got to the SPID while it was in a field for six years. I been kicking that can down the road for a while on sending VIN to the GM Heritage Center, I just need to do it. Thanks Mike

Could be. The Heritage Center info packet shows that codes 25 and 26 were an available combination.

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

It also shows that code 23 (Hawaiian Blue) was available with code 26 Dark Blue.

Code 27 was not available on C/K pickups in '79.
