1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

If the frame around the windshield is rusted and the posts and most likely the full thing needs to be replaced bit the rest of the blazer is ok with the usual rust how hard is it to get those windshield posts replaced? Is it worth getting a truck like this?Name: mms_img1977094852.jpg

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

Not sure if the truck is something that can be fixed up the truck runs and the motor is good the gas tank needs to be drained as the had has been sitting for a bit. The motor was tuned up. Before putting it away. So what do you guys think $5000 - $6000 Is it worth it?

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

Seems pretty steep on the price. But, if you have the knowledge and skill to do all the work yourself, it may be worth it to you. I bought 2 (70 and 72) in better shape, each for half that price. But, that was also 10 years ago. Good luck, I hope someone here can be more help than I am. Still looks like a sweet blazer with potential.

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

depends on what you want to do. get it running and driving and have one just to enjoy? or restore? either way i wouldnt pay 5-6 for a rusty non driving rig. just hold out for a better one or get him to cut that price in half

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

Unless you can fix it yourself, pass on it even if it was free. If you have to pay someone to fix it PROPERLY, then you will have more into the truck than it's worth.

Agree with Hemi, you have lots of cans of worms there.

I would definitely pass on that one. I'd rather repair anything mechanical - I'd rather repair EVERYTHING mechanical than try to deal with all that rust.

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

I'd pass on that one. with the amt of rust on it, your gonna find out its got more to fix then you can see. I understand wanting a blazer but sometimes you gotta pass for the right one. to me its to much for the rust amt. I got mine a yr ago for only 2000 and it was in better shape...

Way, way too much rust showing on that Blazer. Be twice as much you can't see yet.
Pity the fool!

Love the A team reference.

facebook groups, craigslist, ebay, etc. They are out there. If you want want with less rust, be prepared to ship one from another area. The cost of shipping will save you in body work and patch panels...

If you're willing to ship - www.ksl.com. A lot of cars on there. You can look in the cars section, but there's also a section under the classifieds>auto parts and accessories>non running cars where I'll occasionally see a Blazer pop up. In fact, I just searched and this one came up:

http://www.ksl.com/classifieds/listing/44418408

I don't know anything about it, but at $4500 it's already a way better deal than what you were looking at.

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

There's a few here in B.C. for sale, just keep checking CL and Kijiji. Is that Yellow one in Alberta? Seems the Alberta guys have had too much oil fumes this past year and all the classics are jacked up for insane pricing. I'd maybe pay $500 for that yellow blazer lol $6000 means the guy is on crack or something.

Re: 1971 Blazer K5 With Rust

I'm of the opinion that $5k-$6k is waaay out of line for that truck, unless it has a brand new LS3 under the hood. All of that rust can be fixed, but it's lots of time and money to do it right. BTW, I found my Jimmy on ebay 10 years ago. Haven't looked for one since then, but if I was, I'd look at as many different places as I could. I don't know of a specific site or place that has a bunch of them or specializes in the Jimmy/Blazers. And also, I like that van too, but it surely you don't it compares to a Blazer or Jimmy.
