Help me learn about carbs

I'll be the younger guy here and admit I have no idea what the hell I am doing with a carburetor. I am having several problems with my truck such as stalling out when in gear (automatic), bogging down when WOT off the line. And... I also want more horsepower. I am looking for learning resources about my carb, as well as possible options to give me some more power and how to adjust the beast to give me optimal performance. Thanks!
