It's getting hot!
Question for everybody that has experience with the heater boxes. My truck constantly blows hot air through the floor vent. Obvious things I need to check.are flap door seals and cable connections to make sure it's closing..My question is, how hard are these boxes to pull out and rebuild? What's the best kit to use? Is it easier to just buy new heater box? I would love to just go vintage air and get A/C but I won't be able to any time soon.
Thanks for any help

Re: It's getting hot!
I pulled mine out and welded a patch over the hole ... lol
Honestly though they are not that bad to pull out

Re: It's getting hot!
just put a shut off valve on one of your heater hoses.

Re: It's getting hot!
Or better yet disconnect both lines from the heater core and tie them together for a while.
The heater box does come out rather easily, You have to remove the inner fender wheel on the passenger side to make things easy peasy. There is one nut on the bottom that is a pita otherwise. I put in a new lever kit called a Never Pop which is stamped steel instead of the pot metal levers. Lubed up all the cables. Greased the door hinge and used butyl rubber tape to seal up the unit on install. New defrost hoses and good to go! |

Re: It's getting hot!
Anybody use one of these? Any luck with them? I like the price compared to the vintage air. I wouldn't mind piecing a unit together from jy but havnt found a definitive parts list to go by
