Horn button came off, can't get it to stay on
Like the title says, while driving today my horn button came off on the freeway,
which meant I was scrambling to grab the contact and try to keep it from blaring while I was driving. I ended up removing the contact wire in the meantime while I try and fix it. The inside of the horn button/cap has 3 indents that I assume are meant to grab the horn contact, but for whatever reason it won't anymore. Is there a different style of horn that I can use, instead of this crappy one? Thanks in advance. Last edited by dgheinen; 07-10-2017 at 01:18 AM. |

Re: Horn button came off, can't get it to stay on
I have had same happen with same setup. Took a lot of patience but finally stayed on. Just trial and error, i wish I knew what did it cause I'm sure it will happen again. Was thinking of trying to fit a classic button on there.

Re: Horn button came off, can't get it to stay on
Those grant horn caps have oval nubs and little round dimples. The oval nubs keep the cap from going too far when the horn is pressed. The dimples keep the cap from coming off.
Take a punch and put it in the dimple and hit it with a hammer to make them stand out a bit more proud. That will keep it on. Use a small block of wood or something inside the cap where you are hitting it, so you don't deform the cap. I did this with mine, now it's on there tight.
