Noise While Drive
How much noise is their in these trucks driving 50 to 70 MPH.
Noise from: o mechanical, engine trans dif, 327 with turbo 400 and 12 bolt ( 3.73 or 3.08 gears; o Wind noise from cab aero, window seal, etc. ( my 86' has a really bad whistle sound over 50); and o Road noise, body panel creeks, that comes through the body panels? Say comparing to a newer pick-up. Thinking the aero noise is hardest to correct. Thanks, Les |

Re: Noise While Drive
they are noisy in every way imaginable.
you need a massive stereo to overcome road noise at 70mph plus. |

Re: Noise While Drive
My 65 was like driving a tin can around. That's whats fun about them! I doubt these trucks every saw a wind tunnel. Aero? Nea...
My 61 was a little better shape. Some new bushings everywhere and dynamat can gets things quieter. I used a roll-on bed liner for the cab floor of the 61 and that helped a bunch too.

Re: Noise While Drive
Kimble,
Was thinking of a 65' C 10 and 20 with an automatic. On the 86', it has bad wind noise and a worse whistle ( louder as you go faster). Kieth, Mr GM says the vent windows can make a lot of noise. Pretty sure the 64' K10 with original TC will be loud, how is yours for noise? Thanks everybody for your comments. Might try some small spoiler like air deflectors at the side edges of windshield, about 3/8" tall. Newer truck has them. Les Last edited by aotte1; 07-13-2017 at 12:37 AM. |

Re: Noise While Drive
Les--My transfer case is pretty loud at slow speeds. Don't know what it will sound like at 65. Got a line on a dodge divorced 205 and might replace the 221 as Chris has done.

Re: Noise While Drive
They're loud. My other 65 is an Impala convertible, and it is like a bank vault compared to the truck.

Re: Noise While Drive
To tell you the truth I don't hear any wind or road noises. My exhaust is too loud.
