"My" truck in a truck camper ad
Not sure if I've ever posted this, so forgive me if it's a repeat. I found this ad that has what's basically my truck, right down to the color scheme. Mine's a Sierra Grade custom camper as well, though mine's a longhorn and has Senior mirrors, otherwise almost identical.
Anyway, my wife got the ad framed for me, and used the truck's side-trim to as the inner frame, so the ad is framed with GMC trim!

Very nice. The trim frame is a great idea. Now you need to do the same with a pic of your truck to put next to it.

Re: "My" truck in a truck camper ad
I don't have a pic quite that angle, but here's the general idea. That blue in the picture is sure darker looking than mine though! I guess mine has the white on the bottom rail too, which the ad truck does not, so different year?
Mine came with a topper on it, but I gave that to another member who repainted it and is still running it, I think!

Re: "My" truck in a truck camper ad
Different color and paint scheme, found one a little closer. Note, this truck was not ordered with larger mirrors, so aftermarket mirrors were installed immediately after purchase. Also, has lock rim 16" ( very common on 3/4 tons back in the day), and also has correct black center GMC hubcaps.

Dang, that is a big a** camper. Any that can have the door on the side, I am afraid I would drag my rear all the time

^^^ I know... driving one of those without ABS and stability control could get ugly in a hurry if something went wrong!

Some people (not implying you) are insecure about having safety features on their vehicle, as though it means they can't drive. I can drive just fine (no accidents OR tickets since 1987, over 30 years). But I still want stability control and abs. I mean even getting rear ended while sitting at a light, almost unavoidable, is dangerous in these trucks (no headrest, head through back window).

Re: "My" truck in a truck camper ad
Awesome ad I've never seen another camper with a side entry. Btw I put this one on my k20 drove 50 ft and took it off. I'll use my 12 dodge 1 ton, way too much sway.

Re: "My" truck in a truck camper ad
I'd love to find a Longhorn size camper like that... totally impractical, but it'd be fun to restore the camper I think!

Re: "My" truck in a truck camper ad
Here's a picture of my Dad's 70 GMC 2500 Custom Camper with his 10.5 foot Lance camper. My Dad and Mom traveled all over the west with it. The picture was taken in the early 70's. I still have his truck. It's in the paint shop now. See the link in my signature for more photos.

Now if you gave me four pedals, one for each wheel, I bet I could eventually master it, but it'd take a lot of practice and time. Suffice to say, we don't have four pedals, so there's just some stuff that DSC and ABS can do that we, as humans, cannot do. That's all.

I used to take my '72 C10-1/2ton camping with an 8 ft. camper on the back.
That was a lot of load for it, but I prepared the truck very well for the trips including: good brakes, tires & air pressure, cooling, transmission coolers, steering, etc. I never had any problems other than just having to bide my time given the decreased performance of the truck. These trucks...certainly the 3/4 tons can take most campers safely on a trip if the truck is in good, prepared condition. As for worrying about the public at large and their driving habits...this is not time well spent because it is not something you can control in my opinion. My two bits. Coley
