Last year 12secondnova posted a pic of a truck in a junk yard with what looked like factory cowl induction plenum , I for one called bs as I never had seen one before , Another member posted pictures from the service manual of the part he had found . Well of course then I wanted it so I asked 12secondnova to check on a price long story short he picked it up and sent it to me . I can't find the original thread but here it is fresh from the Chrome shop along with a set of 67 grill shelves chromed by Knoxville Custom Chrome .

Anyone remember this thread ?

From a junk yard in Northern Ca to Knoxville ,Restored and now will be used to feed another custom made Chromed plenum to a tri power chrome carb setup on my 292 .

There's a lot of chrome . chromed grille shelves , steel chromed grille hoops ,steel chromed headlight bezels , for an all chrome front end and a TON of custom built 1 off parts .

It only took about a year , Thanks again ! is that truck still there ? it looks to have a 292 and I could really use that passengers side engine perch ?

Chrome won't get you home as the saying goes but I'm not building this one for anyone else but myself so Knoxville custom chrome is giving me some good prices if I'm willing to wait for them to run my pieces thru so why not ? I've never seen anyone else chrome out the front end using stock parts .so the truck will be chromed out from front to back within reason , it's just going to Fl to cruise the beach !

Ive got a bunch of NOS hoops and head light rings in steel set aside. They aren't in the wrappers any more but will be perfect for chrome.

I got them in case I really love my panel when its on the road and would switch to them over aluminum. I do have NOS aluminum hoops and rings to start out with though.

Let me see exactly how many I have, got to find them first. And like I said they aren't in the wrappers, haven't been for awhile so they aren't NOS pristine

Looking at the other thread, that device between that snorkel and the actual air cleaner intake snorkel reminds me of the types of filters that are used on tractors. They have blades inside to deflect most of the dust before it gets to the main filter. I'm referring to tractors from 40 years ago, so maybe I'm off base with that. I'd like to do something like this with my truck. I put a cold air induction on my commuter box, and gained a little horsepower, and .1 MPG. I didn't care about the mileage, but that poor Corolla had a hard time pulling the hill out of the San Fernando Valley into Simi Valley. That change alone made it possible without dropping out of converter lockup. That car used to get doggy when it was really hot out, like 107º in the shade, and there wasn't any shade. That was based on a lot of the computer controls, but the stock intake air came into the plenum between the battery and the radiator. That's gotta be one hot spot!

I don't think that this particular setup would be a performance feature, but an air cleaning effort. Buick made a cold air induction for some of their cars in '68, maybe '69, but it went to the back of the air cleaner housing from the cowl. It was actually good for a measurable difference (time and speed) at the drag strip.

Well the truck this piece is going in is a 67 with a 2-4 drop , factory front sway bar , 292 with some lump ports and a little head work , speedway sells the "97 " model carbs as a correct chromed tri power set up with linkage at $1,300 + an offy intake ,stove bolt headers to a custom geared M-22 rock chrusher from my buddy Rick who builds Muncies for a living ,I love that trans whine , with a stock 3.73 factory posi that this truck came with . the gear to gear 292 and the noisy m-22 with the posi should make this old truck sound pretty mechanical , it's staying 6 lug with 15x8 70's front and 15x10 50's rear slots on TA radials , I'll put a set of my Grumpy buckets in it with a custom built interior/ headliner (anything to help keep that Florida heat out helps ) and a stock consol ' keep the stock am radio in the dash ,Stock windshield trim, stock style lower mouldings, move the tank out back and I'll add a rear cargo light , stock chrome bumpers with a hidden trailer hitch to tow my flats boat around the beach in Florida , No crazy aftermarket suspension no huge HP just a real old school cool look to it with the gorgeous ash bed wood from GR8-68. Pretty much a truck that could have been built back in 67 .no computers , no air drop system , no amps/huge speakers. I think you get the picture . Old school cool

One cool thing is many of these parts came from the members in here Like the very nice stock radiator from Special -K and many other members . I've been collecting parts for this build for the last few years !

Oh yeah a stock style rubber floor mat because I hate beach sand stuck in the carpet ! I've changed my mind a 1/2 dozen times on what color to paint it and have landed on this (I'll post a pic shortly )
