Rear door glass removal

What's the trick to remove the glass on the rear door of a 4 door truck / Suburban?

Also, the power window is making a grinding noise when extending or retracting like it is stripped out.

Here's where I'm at. Tried unbolting the window regulator and that didn't work. Then tried removing that window guide rail but it won't come out. Will the small window have to come out?

Re: Rear door glass removal

Edahall,

The way I did is the following:

Roll the window down, take the bolt out at the bottom that holds the window channel in place between the roll down and fixed window (I thinks it a 5/16 bolt like all the other ones on the door), that will allow you to tilt the center channel by pulling it loose from the fixed window, then pull the fixed window out from the door giving you more room to work. Then work the center channel out of the door, then slide the main window off the rollers and bring it out the top.

FYI, Getting the center channel out can be a b*tch, you will fight it and then out of no where, it just comes out and you'll say to yourself, "How did I do it?"

Make Sense?

They can be a small challenge, just take your time and become smarter than the door with a little finesse

Re: Rear door glass removal

Thanks for the help. The job was fairly easy once. I removed the fixed window and center channel. it's now replaced and good to go.

Re: Rear door glass removal

Glad I found this! This helped tremendously!!!

I've been searching for a while for info on how to get this rear door glass out. I even posted this question on this and a few other forums.
